Résumé (notre traduction)

La Société Européenne pour la recherche en formation des adultes (dont l'acronyme anglais est : ESREA - European Society for Research on the Education of Adults) lance un nouveau réseau pour les formatrices, formateurs, enseignantes et enseignants en éducation des adultes. Le réseau se veut un forum continu pour les membres du corps enseignant, de disciplines et milieux professionnels variés, que ce soit en enseignement formel ou informel. Ce forum sera l'occasion de discuter, contempler, réfléchir et débattre de problématiques en lien avec leur formation, leur développement professionnel, leurs rôles et pratiques, les méthodes de recrutement et leurs conditions de travail.

Sur ces bases, l'objectif du nouveau réseau sera triple :

• rassembler l'expérience pan-européenne en matière de multiplicité des rôles, pratiques et environnements auxquels font face les membres du corps enseignant,
• transmettre l'information quant aux projets européens en cours et stimuler la recherche dans ce domaine,
• explorer les méthodes de développement des politiques et analyser leur impact potentiel sur la profession.

Les personnes participant à ce nouveau réseau se rencontreront tous les deux ans, lors d'une conférence de trois jours. La première de ces conférences aura lieu fin Octobre 2010 à Thessaloniki (Grèce). Dans un premier temps, le réseau sera organisé par des membres du comité directeur de la Société, mais votre soutien est grandement nécessaire au bon démarrage de ce nouveau réseau thématique, sous la forme d'une participation active, que ce soit par le biais de votre travail de haute qualité ou en aiguillant vers le réseau toute personne de votre connaissance ayant un intérêt dans ce domaine.

Si vous avez un intérêt dans ce milieu, que vous soyez membre du corps enseignant, du milieu de la recherche ou du développement des politiques, ou dans un cursus d'études du troisième cycle spécialisé en éducation des adultes ou encore impliqué dans la gestion de l'éducation des adultes, et que vous souhaitez soutenir et participer à ce nouveau réseau thématique de la recherche, merci de me contacter à l'adresse suivante :

The general scope of the new network for the adult educator and trainer (ESREA-Re.N.Ad.E.T) in this respect is to provide an ongoing forum for adult educators and trainers from a range of disciplines and professional settings, whether formal or non-formal (such as further education, VET and NVAL settings, counselling & guidance authorities, higher education and other academic settings, learning organisations and working environments), to contemplate, discuss, reflect and debate the issues in relation to their education and training, their professional development, their roles and effective practices, the modes of their recruitment, their employment situation and their working conditions.

On these grounds the aim of the new network will be threefold:

• to bring forward the experience from all around Europe on issues pertaining to the multiple roles, practices and settings in which adult educators and trainers act and grow,
• to report on current European projects and stimulate research in this area,
• to explore the way/s policies develop and analyse their possible impact on the profession.
  

Some of the issues to be addressed in this new network include the following:

• initial education and training of adult educators and trainers;
• access, recruitment and career paths for adult educators;
• professionalization of the adult educator, trainer;
• attractiveness of the profession, employment situation, working environments and working conditions;
• continuing and in-service education and training for adult educators & assessment of their role;
• duties, roles and identities for adult educators and trainers;
• methods and qualities of practice, reflectivity and the reflective practitioner;
• adult learner/participant - adult educator interaction & issues of power and authority;
• trade unionism, collaboration and networking among adult educators;
• policy making and its impact on adult educatorsʼ roles and practices.

People participating in the new network will meet every two years in a three-days conference. The first conference is planned to take place in late October 2010 in Thessaloniki (Greece), with the first conference proceedings to be published later that year. The new network will provisionally be convened by members of the ESREA Steering Committee (these are to be announced), however your support is strongly needed to get this new ESREA thematic network going. This asks for your active participation both in terms of contributing with your high quality work, as well as steering anyone else, that you know has an interest in this area (adult educator, professional VET trainer, policy maker, etc.).

If you are a professional trainer, adult educator, academic, researcher or policy maker with an interest in this area, a postgraduate student with a focus in adult education and learning or you are involved in adult education management or leadership (e.g. adult education centre manager, HRD manager, etc.), and want to support this new ESREA thematic research network, benefit from the experience of colleagues from all around Europe, steer a productive dialogue among researchers with similar interests and participate in quality conferences that will be organised biennially in different European cities, please contact me at gzarifis@edlit.auth.gr or gkzarifis@yahoo.com.
