As we await PIAAC results, we can thoughtfully examine the results and impacts from LAMP, another international assessment, adapted from the same methodology to measure literacy in non-western countries.

The Literacy and Assessment Monitoring Programme (LAMP) was developed by the UNESCO Institute of Statistics (UIS) to provide information in developing countries for effective literacy policy and programs.  Using the methodology from IALS and PIAAC, LAMP adapts items and uses the language of each country, not translation. UIS says data can be compared across time, countries and cultures.

Join Manuel Cardoso Fernandez, a UIS Program Specialist in the Learning Outcomes Section, for a webinar to discuss LAMP findings and the effects that have changed the model of literacy assessment in developing countries.
