2nd International ProPEL Conference « Professional Matters: materialities and virtualities of professional learning »

Date:

25 Juin 2014 - 04h00 - 28 Juin 2014 - 03h59

This conference promotes leading edge study in professional and vocational learning, practice and education - robust research that applies innovative methodologies and contemporary theories to examine pressing issues related to work practices, knowing, organising and professions today and for the future.

This year we particularly encourage papers that explore the material or virtual ‘matters’ of practitioners’ learning. Increasingly, contemporary researchers interested in work are drawing from perspectives such as relational materiality, STS, activity theory and ‘new materialisms’. What critical insights do these perspectives bring to the changing complexities of work practices and knowledges? What questions do they open?

What research methodologies and analytic strategies do they offer to help critically explore the emergent nature of professional knowing and the systems of professional work? What are their limitations, and what ethical and political sensibilities do they contribute to support learning and change in difficult times?
